Tokyo After Dark called for a sonic identity that was joyous, playful, quirky, and bubbly.

Overview & Concept Drawing inspiration from textured synth arpeggios and the distinctive, whimsical aesthetic of Wes Anderson, the goal was to create an inviting acoustic landscape for this high-profile collaboration.

Creative & Technical Process To capture the warmth and tactile character requested in the reference, I patched an analogue synthesiser directly through a vintage Space Echo RE-301 tape delay. By physically manipulating feedback and tape saturation, I sculpted a series of rich, evolving arpeggiated motifs.

Outcome After exploring several harmonic and rhythmic variations, we landed on the brightest, most vibrant option—delivering a distinctive synth signature that perfectly balanced Murakami's playful visual universe with Jan Logan's refined elegance.
